Carbon

Sunshine Technology's ventures, where possible, are designed to earn carbon credits, which provide an additional revenue stream for the business and reduce income risk through diversification.
Commercial forestry plantations have the potential to earn carbon credits, provided the land and the ventures meet certain criteria. The criteria vary depending on which regulatory standard is selected, but the underlying principles of each standard are similar. Although it is not yet clear which regulatory framework will become the global standard for generating carbon credits, the market has grown enormously in the last three years, and we are developing our ventures so that carbon credits may be generated wherever possible.
Carbon credits may be generated by forestry plantations because growing trees absorb carbon dioxide. Through photosynthesis, oxygen is emitted, leaving the carbon stored in the tree. Carbon credits are therefore awarded according to the increased carbon stock held in the trees. Carbon credits may also be generated through the production of renewable wood-based biomass energy in place of fossil fuels.
